Sangarius II

New abstract print by Donald Hamilton Fraser. Sangarius; a mythical river in Asia Minor.
Originally painted in 1963
similar pieces from this period were featured in the book called A Private View by Robertson/Russell and Snowdon.
At this time Donald was working in collage and paint, he used layers of thin news print which were built up with layers of paint and glue to create a unique texture and vibrancy of colour for which he is still so well known for.
Layers of paint were added with a pallet knife and strong clean edges were formed between colours.
From this wonderful abstraction of colours we are proud to launch a stunning new silk screen which has been worked in a similar way with each colour applied through the stencils. The stencils were hand made and proofed by the studio under the excutive direction of the artist.
