Bryan Organ
Bryan Organ was born in Leicester in 1935. He is mainly known for his work in portraiture, and has painted likenesses of many public figures. He is represented at the National Portrait Gallery, in London.
His best known portrait is of Lady Diana Spencer, which was commissioned and completed in 1981. It's an acrylic on canvas, on display at the National Portrait Gallery. Another iconic figure he has painted is of Elton John, wearing a Marilyn Monroe shirt. Organ is godfather to Prince Harry. He has also painted the official portraits of the last 3 Chancellors of the University of Oxford (Harold MacMillan, Roy Jenkins and Chris Patten). One of his most recent and most popular paintings in 2005 was of Martin Johnson the England rugby manager and ex-England world cup winning captain.
