Helen McChesney

'My serious studies began at the Royal College of Art working figures into glass but later I concentrated on life paintings and drawings. I have enjoyed teaching at various colleges and I am presently concentrating on my work. The study of movement and attitude of the figure is the essential motivation of my work. Inspired by the Renaissance style I try to produce paintings which portray a sense of tranquility and strength at the same time allowing an element of anonymity to evolve to explore the feeling of calm and sensuality. '
