Luke Piper
Luke was born in 1966 the eldest son of Edward and the grandson of John Piper. After studying Geography at Cambridge University Luke embarked on extensive travels that would take him to Papua New Guinea and Africa. Upon his return to the UK Luke began to concentrate on his paintings and his first London show at CCA Mayfair was a complete sell out. Luke created his first prints in 1994 under the guidance and supervision of Jack Sherieff at the 107 Workshop in Wiltshire. The etching process is one that works well with Luke's style of drawing and freedom of composition. His originals are made up of acrylics with watercolour washes and highlights of wax crayon. Luke's layering of lines and building of bold colours is an effective tool in demonstrating the space in which he depicts and is evocative of his emotional experience before the landscape.
