Melanie Epps

Melanie works mostly in the medium of printmaking and painting her prints are collographs printed from plaster plates giving them their characteristic cracked and aged appearance. They are then coloured with watercolour and goldleaf the colours are inspired by ancient frescos and paintings. The plate fragility also means that they can only be produced in small editions. Her imagery suggests far forgotten lands and timeless journeys over ancient seas. Since 1985 when Melanie graduated from Maidstone College of Art she has enjoyed exhibitions in London across the south of England and in Manchester. In 1993 she took part in a group show at CCA Cambridge and in 1995 her work was shown at a mixed exhibition in CCA Selfridges.
